Hello,
my question is, are Filefish (especially Fantail Filefish) reef safe? I have heard alot of conflicting advice (even from the same author) about these fish, and would like to know for sure.

Thanks,
-Lynden

Filefish arnt reef safe because they can nip at corals/coral polyps. Some species of filefish only eat coral polyps, and are hence very difficult to keep alive in an aquarium. Other species you need to feed copious amounts of food too. What tank do you have in mind for it?

Damnit, man! :grr: I really liked those things. It was supposed to go in my 55, since the 160 probably won't be coming for a while.

Thanks for the information; I had a few substitues in mind.
