I've got a 29 gallon planted biocube with 2 figure 8 puffers & 4 bumblebee gobies, everybody seems to be happy & eating except the puffers hide whenever I approach the tank. I've had the puffers for about 2 months & they seem to have been doing this for about 1 month, I cant think of anything that I have done that would cause this & from reading online it seems they should be greeting me when I come to the tank to feed. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

mine are skittish from time to time also. they are more active when no one is around. when my kids are at school they swim about more than in the evening when there are three little boys running around. is there a lot of activity going on? they are very particular about feeding times. the night feeding was around 6-7 ish and a few nights I was busy so they didn't get fed until 8 and when this happens they all hide. so I have started to open the lid and then go grab the snails so they have a five minute warning so to speak. have you changed feeding times? also they seem to like it better when the room is dimmer. even if the tank lights are on at night they come out a bit more once it is darker in the living room. hope this helps!

There isn't much activity at all around the tank besides the fact the tank is in the den where we watch TV. I wasn't aware about the feeding times, I usually try feed them once in the evening around 7 or 8 but it definitely varies quite a bit, what is the ideal feeding time?

not too sure on best times but I just try to do 2-3 times a day at about the same times
