Hi, I rescued two large common pleco's and recieved some great advice from people here., but now they are fit and looking good they are behaving odd. they keep chasing each other round the tank and its seems very gentle, but they are "sucking" on each other, not really attached sucking almost a kiss is the only way I can discribe it and they rub against each other. The one keeps turning over on its back and swimming under the other one and they seem to contantly have their fins up displaying! I have no idea what sex they are. I was just wondering if this was normal behaviour for two large common pleco's.

Thanks

my experience is that plecs are normally aggressive towards their own. In a 4ft tank I once had, the two large plecs I had fought and one died - I do however have 5 in a very large tank now, varying size.

Best keep your eye on them for now, what size is the tank?

The only thing I had spare was my 4ft x 2 x 2, which is not really big enough. I am not sure if they are fighting as its very gentle nudging and mouthing or enjoying the freedom of being able to swim about.

there fighting common plecs have a reputation for being teretorial id say thats too small a tank but then again you may be able to get away with adding more caves rather than rehoming one of them how big are they?

They are 14-15" long, I have only had them a month, I waiting for an aquatic shop to have the space available to take them off me (hopefully)
