Fighting Gouramis?

The tank is peaceful at the moment
If I added two dwarf blue gouramis, would there be any disputes with the pair of resident honey gouramis? Do gouramis cause damage to themselves if they do fight, or is it a quick chase then back off?

Hi

It's unlikely that they will fight, but you are doing the right thing in buying them in two's. The only thing I would say is that Gourami's can get very territorial, so keep an eye on your current ones when adding the new Gourami.

I have a gold Gourami and it hates anything that even looks like it entering the tank.
I added a Moonlight Gourami and a Kissing Gourami at some point and it actually killed off the Kissing Gourami by chasing it all the time ( would have died of stress ).

However, it will back down after time, but as I say, I don't think you'll have a problem.

I have two blue dwarf gouramis with five pearl gouramis in my 55 gallon tank for the last 7 months. Not a problem at all. Maybe it is the coastal weather here in Oregon.
