Fifa 08 was released in the States yesterday, I'm a huge fan of this series of games. I had 2005 2006 and 207 for the Xbox but my Xbox bit the dust so I bought a Wii instead. Now that I have a copy of 08 and a wireless network to go online with it, I've been having a blast playing against other people from around the world.

So if you have this game and an EA sports account, list your account name here so I can search you out and add you as a friend and maybe we can play a match someday.

I'm playing with SL Benfica from the Portuguese League.

Hey dude. I'm glad you bought it on the Wii. Although it's damn hard to get used to!

this runs dog slow on the ps2, so slow in fact i have binned it, well gave it to a friend. though i may look at the Wii version. of course not having any use for a overpriced door stop, i aint got a ps3.

Shame about no career mode though

I think that the Xbox and PS3 versions have a career mode. I was very disappointed to not get one for the wii, but the online connectivity has made up for that so far.

I'll add you.

I'm not sure which one you see so I posted both

The 360 version has career mode in the form of a manager mode but you can make you're own player and transfer them to your chosen team and bring them on stats wise.

Does the Wii version have any of the other new modes like 'be a pro' etc?

I have to say I dont see the massive appeal with the Wii...it would be fun if you had your mates round after the pub but for day to day gaming I think it would just annoy me, for good gaming and better graphics it has to be the 360 or the ps3.

i think the big appeal of the Wii is, those of us who never got to grips with the game pad control system, have never been enticed to the games console. the Wii puts everybody, even the experienced, at the bottom of the learning curve. for the first time even the much older section, ignored for so long, are taking up gaming. http://www.shinyshiny.tv/2007/09/oap_play_wii.html

despite its success the Wii is not worrying the Microsoft or Sony. however the Wii 2 must be terrifying them. with the Wii outselling both the xbox and the ps3, thats if anybody has bought one lol, if the next gen Wii adds the graphics and power it is missing now, we could well never see a PS4.

For families, the Wii is awesome. And it's tons of fun to see the different ways they come up to use the control stick in each game. Steering wheel, airplane yoke, sword, golf club, baseball bat, bowling ball, etc. Also, in Fifa 08 you use the controller and the nunchuck to throw in the ball when it goes out of bounds, much like you would in real life. It even detects the strength you put into the throw as well as the direction.

The rest of the controls in Fifa are a pain to learn on the Wii but I'm getting the hang of it now, I almost prefer it to the Xbox pad I used in Fifa 07. I really had it down on the Xbox though, I'd be willing to bet that my record would be significantly better than the 5 and 18 that it is right now. But hey, I'm having to start again from scratch so I think it's not that bad.
