I am being slowly but surely pulled back to the salty side. The last try was a bit of a fail, but it taught me lots, the main thing being that size really DOES matter lol.

I'm making plans to start a new project, but I wanted to pass a few questions past the salty experts first if you dont mind?

1: I am planning on using an existing tank, it is 54inches & around 300ltrs, would this be a good size to make a nice marine display from? I became very frustrated with my nano because I was so limited in choices of fish & corals. Or should I save up for a bigger tank first?

2: Are metal halydes really worth the money? This tank will be a lovely long term project & I want to get it right from the start, rather than waste money on T5's now, then upgrade after a few months. I would love this to be a gorgeous reef with a mix of beautiful corals.

3:My first purchase is going to be an RO unit, are there any particular brands which are better? Or anything I should be particularly looking for?

4: Any book recommendations? This is going to take months to set up & buy everything for it, it would be nice to have a couple of really good books to use for research while i'm waiting.

I have tons more questions about sumps & skimmers, but they are a couple of months away at least yet, so i'll think about those later.

If anyone would like to offer any advice or opinions on the above, that would be brill, thanks guys.
