Hi

Been out from the forum for a few weeks. Work's a killer.
Anyway my tropica fertilizer is about finished and i decided to go for the EI method.I already read alot about the subject weeks ago before ordering the dry salts. But now that its time to mix the solution i feel very confused with this.

Can anyone that uses this method shed some light on it?f

The tank is 240 liters

I want to mix a solution enough for a month using it 3 times a week.

The dry salts i got are:

potassium nitrate
potassium phosphate
magnesium sulphate

and for the trace solution

chelated trace

I am confused about how much i need to prepare the solutions. Some use grams as a measure others teaspoons. I've checked some fertilizing calculators but i'm confused enough not to risk mixing anything.

I appreciate if anyone can help me.

mix what it says? i does mine i think i do 4tsp of potassium nitrate 1 of potassium phosphate 6 of magnesium sulphate with 500ml of water
and 1tsp for 500ml for trace

thats what the sheet which came with it said....

for me. anyway it seems to be working fine.

to work out what you can dose a month work out what your going to does per a day. then add it up. im dosing 10ml per 50L 3x a week at the moment and i have a 500ml bottle of the stuff. so it should last me 16 weeks per a bottle

you mix the first 3 for your macro solution and the trace for your micro

i dont does mine straight into a tank. i put it into a bottle then does that but id have to does 1/16th of potassium phosphate if i did does straight into the tank (cant be bothered to work out the maths for the rest)

I'm bias, but I'd say use a Sixteenth/pinch measuring spoon

I add chemical straight to the tank every other day 25ml mag sulphate, 5ml pot phosphate, 10ml pot nitrate.

Alternate days 5ml trace. My tank is 750 lt so if you devide by 3 you'll not be far wrong. Works for me.Co2 too

5ml is a teaspoon just double checked on the calculater link above and I am about right.

Tells you either dry or pre mixed.. i used to pre mix but it becomes a hassle..

Thanks for all the advice. But i'm moving house next week, and 2 days ago my heater died when i was at work killing all my fish. So instead of disassembling my tank next week for the house moving i will do it tomorrow so fertilizing will not be needed for some time.
