Fertile Or Infertile?

My Rams have just spawned this morning..im wondering if you can tell if there fertile yet?

Bit blurry, but they are colouring up so I would say fertile. Just to ask are the pair fanning them?

ive seen them do it once but not frequently..

Ok, well they wont do it all the time, keep an eye on the eggs, if they start to look fungusy then take them out because they are either not fertilized or they are dead eggs.

ok..if one gets fungus will others get it ?

Not necessarily, some do, some dont. Its usually infertile eggs that go fungusy. So you may get some which didnt get fertilised next to some which did.

they look all coloured so i think they are fertile..i will use a pipette to suck the single eggs out of the tank if they have fungus on them

minx cant you use methylene blue to prevent fungus?

You can I think if you were to remove the eggs and put them in a tank on their own, but I wouldnt with the rams in with them, they should do a good enough job fanning them which should help prevent any of them going fungusy.

if there is good aeration in the tank does that help prevent it?

It helps, but as I said the parents fanning the eggs will be fine. The only time you would need extra aeration would be if the eggs were removed, then you would use an airstone to create the fanning process.

Im sure they will be fine as they are.

That kills filter bacteria so depending on tank size might do more harm than good.
