Fertile melano female!!

I stumbled onto this site while looking for pure giant plakats. Looks like he bred a melano female with a melano male and got viable offspring!

WOW!!! I knew Jim was attempting this spawn, I hadn't checked or heard if it was successful! That's so exciting that it was! I have no doubt he'll be selling those fry for a pretty penny, and worth every bit of it too!

If anybody has the patience to work a melano line,it would certainly be Jim. Kudos to him

Yep, the VP of our club I have no doubt will want to get his hands on some of them, he's been working with Melano's as well, trying to get a "better black". I sure hope he does then assuming he's successful with spawning them, they'll start to show up at our meetings/auctions, Woo Hoo!!

I just pm'ed my club pres and he said he has a spawn of those too I can't keep up with everybodies spawns ) Anyhoo, he says the only trouble with the double black is the poor finnage. Great color and terrible fins. Crazy fish.

I love Jim's website My breeders cup pair from the Seattle show look exactly like that (and they are Jim Sonnier fish ) They have also produced viable offspring, but Dad built the nest too high
