OK, here's loads of pictures of rescue ferrets we've had into our rescue over the last 4 years or so. I'll let the pictures do the talking and sorry if you've seen some of them before.

This thread is dedicated to AngelLady - she always loved to look at my ferret pictures and these are the first ones i've posted since her passing.

 Those pics are just too gorgeous. Aaaawwww!!! I want a ferret. I LOVE the baby pics. What did you do with all of the babies? How many have you got and where do you keep them? Bet you are really busy with those guys.

My favorite pic is pic 22, the one with the creamy baby half hugging it's fluffy toy.

Great pics, not enough IMO.

Thanks for sharing, brought a tear (the dedication to AngelLady) and smile to my face.

;)

Thanks! I did try to put more on but there's a limit to how many pictures you can have in one post

Yeah, that's Benson. He's named Benson because he was mis-treated before he came into us.
Somebody couldn't find a home for him so tried to kill him by putting a cigarette out on his head (see better picture below). Unfortunatley we were unable to produce enough evidence to prosecute. However, after loads of TLC and very little sleep (2 hour-feedings) he made a full recoverey and is now a brilliant personality in a loving new home!

What did you do with all of the babies?

All the babies found loving new homes. We also get our ferrets neutred to stop unwanted babies before we re-home but unfortunatley this ferret was far too pregnant for us to neuter so we let her have her babies! We keep one little baby, Amy, which is the darker one in the first few pictures. She's MY baby and lives in my room - sleeping in my bed. In fact she's nibbling my toes as I write this because she wants all the attention!

We currently have around 25. However, it can change daily with the RSPCA bringing new ones in and us re-homing ones. Two hours in the morning and Three hours in the afternoon - so it does take it's toll after a while.
They all live in an outbuilding we have (heated and double-glazed! More than I have!) over night and then outside into play pens during the day! 2 groups live indoors with us!

 How could someone do that to a small, defenseless little thing. And such a cutie too. It's just wonderful that you were able to take Benson in and help him. :good: He is such a handsome little thing.

Wow, sounds like you're doing brilliant work with these little guys. That's just amazing. Do you ever get to go on holiday with all that commitment??

I love them all, must be hard to re-home them, especially when you've brought them back from all sorts of neglect and abuse. I think you're just brilliant.

Keep up the good work, and of course, all those gorgeous pics, keep em coming.

Carmen :D

Aww thanks guys :good:

It's brilliant to hear good comments about ferrets because all we normally hear at PR events and shows is 'oh, aren't ferrets those animals that bite and smell'... NO! Ferrets will only bite if mis-treated (just like every single pet in the world... except fish!) and they don't smell at all if properly cared for!

AlexAndCarmen we manage to get about 2 weeks of each a year and always make arrangements for someone we trust to look after the ferrets. In the week leading up to our holiday and during our holiday we don't take in any rescues. We have great friends at the RSPCA (in fact, my mum works for them!) so their brilliant when it comes to dealing with us.

We do sometimes struggle to re-home some guys. Over the last 4-5 years we've rehomed over 400 ferrets and every single one has gone to a loving home (we do house-checks before we re-home).

I'll try and dig out some more pictures! :D

What are they like as pets, must admit i don't know a lot about them at all.

look v cute from those pics though! I want one!

They ARE the best pets ever, we have two of 'em and they're like our children :)

What are they like as pets?

Best way to describe them is like having permanent kittens. All throughout their life they are as playful and funny as a group of kittens.
They are also 'pets on demand' which basically means that when you want them to get up.. they will! They soon learn the routine of play-time and bed-time!
Wonderful pets! When you first see the ferrets play... you'll be hooked.

oh god i dunno if i could cope with perpetual kitten!!! we have one and as much as i love her, i'm so glad she's getting older and starting to settle down a bit now!! hard work

Whats the reasons for their rescues? Are they being abused?

My hubby had one in highschool. Cute little thing it was. He wants another one so bad.

I just read the bit about someone putting a ciggie out on his head.

WTF what the hell is wrong with people? That is just extremly cruel.

Some people need to be shot.
