I have lots of fancy guppies. Today, one of the preg females jumped out of teh tank and landed on teh ground by the tank. I'm guessing hse was there from anywhere from 2 hours-15 minutes. Any ways, I picked her up to dispose of her when she started twitching. I put her it water and gently swished her about. She started moving her mouth and gills. She then got her fins unstuck and slightly moved them as well. She has jerking movements at times. When I let go of her she sinks to the bottom and is belly up but her gills, mouth and fins are still going. What going on and will she make it do you think??? Thanks
Ron

I don't think so (But I hope so) if she was out of the water for a short period of time she may not of died yet. When she landed she may have suffered internal injuries (how high was the fall?) Hopefully she will survive but I think she may have suffered internal injuries. Good Luck ;)

I had a Barbus fasciolatus jump out of a tank onto the carpet, (there was only a very small hole in the drip tray so heaven knows how it managed it). I found it in the morning, and had no idea how long it had been out, but it seemed well dead. I put it back in the tank in case, and half an hour later it was swimming around with the others.

Even onto a hard floor, I would have thought a fall of a metre or so would not cause great damage, I well remember I was at a fish farm in Wraysbury which didn't have lids or drip trays, there were, on several ocassions fish flappy about on the concrete.

Good luck with your guppy.

It was about a 3 feet drop. Yes, she was going good untill 2 o'clock last night, she had dies. The ground is sof but still I know what you mean about internal damage! That was teh most bazzare thing that I ever had happen with my fish!!! Well, thanks for replying,
Ron
