Hi,

I just noticed today in my 125 litre tank my female dwarf gourmai has started changing colour to a more brown/red colour and has being hiding near the top of the tank a lot.

Tbh it looks like she has been in a fight with some other tank mates, I recently stuck a new pair of dwarf's in the tank but she seemed to chase the female a little.

I just did a water test and my stats are:

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 40.

My betta recently died of dropsy  so is this the early stages of dropsy? She has very minor swelling if it is I want to start the epsom baths asap.

If anyone could help that would be great.

thanks!

Just a small update it actually looks a bit wool like near the discoloured parts of her body

How many fish and which type.

Is there any red patches, bleeding beneath the skin, or red streaking on the fish.
Does the fish flick and rub.
Any darting, or erratic swimming.
Any excess mucas.
Hows the fish breathing.
What the make of the test kit you are using?

Can you isolate her.

There were red patches and it looked like bleeding from the skin. She also had excess breathing, ufortunately I isolated her and a few hours later she passed :(.

Hopefully my other female dwarf gourmai will hopefully come out now as the scared one was bullied by the one which passed =[

Thanks for your help though!

Red patches can be septicemia, bacterial, parasites.
Bleeding beneath the skin is septicemia also.

Bless her.
R.I.P.

Water changes on main tank for a few days.
If anymore problems get back to the board.

Good Luck.
