Well, i finally got 6 bettas to put in my female community tank. It's a 10 gallon so i'm hoping that's enough room for all of them...Opinions? like, if u think it's an ok size or not...well here's what it looks like, and the bettas that are in it now. they have suprised me. none of them have niped at each other or anything like that. the two largest females have flared at each other a bit, but that was it.

She lookes a little stressed out, (aren't those stress lines?), if she doesn't get any better in a day or so, i might move her.

They look lovely, don't want to offend but i would ditch the multi coloured ornament.

Pretty.

Not interested in answering your questions. :p

Actually, I meant to ask: you mean species tank, no? Since all you have is bettas, wouldn't it be considered a species tank?

no actually i didn't mean species tank, to be honest. Since everyone here has been calling them female community tanks, then that's what i'm calling it. lol,
OH, and about the multi colored, yeah i was kinda thinking the same thing, but i need something else interesting to put in it's place,

Nice collection of girls you have there

I would maybe add more plants, live ones prefereably. Mine is stuffed full of 4 large amazon swords and the girls can hide in between the leaves should they feel threatened.

Once they've established a pecking order hopefully they will all get along and know who gets first dibs on the food etc :D

It just the first thing you notice and the fish are colourful and beautiful, don't need it, try a plant pot if you want them to have a hiding space.

Oh? So if everyone were to jump off a bridge?

Lol. I haven't been on in a while, so I have not noticed this trend. :p

I have noticed some territorial tendencies in my female, but otherwise she is very placid. Going on what I have read on here, it is not advisable, though it does eventually depend on the temperaments of your fish.

Precautions: check up on your fish every day (a given) and just keep bowls and antifungal meds in case there is a bit of fin nipping.

Guilt made me write more. :p

Ah! Walmart customer! Hmm... I personally dislike the fact that I use those neon caves in my tanks. :p

What type of lights do you have? Fl. or inc.? You might be able to get a few java ferns in there, and if you have other tanks, you can move over the little ferns that are bound to grow. ;)

Note: plastic plants bad for male bettas, but ok with females.

Cute tank!

Betta tanks with more than one fish in them are referred to as "community" tanks cuz there's more than one. lol

ANYWAY - if your girls aren't nipping or fighting (which they usually commence pretty fast after getting together) I'd not worry too much about changing things right away.

I would eventually add some live plants, as has been said, and do get some fluorescent bulbs to put in or they'll die off and cause decay and then you'll have a big ol' mess again. Maybe another cave or two. I don't mind the neon caveys - they are bright, but as long as the fishes love them who cares? :)

I agree, my guys seem to love 'em. I have them in Hunter's and Vince's tanks here at work. Hunter has a lot of green on his fins so I have green stones with his, Vince has blue fins so I have dark blue stones in his. They get a lot of ooohhhs and aaahhhs here at work because they are so bright and eye catching. :)

Yeah tonight i noticed that they were swimming around in side and out of it, so hopefully they like it. lol, they seem to. like i said, i'm glad they're doing pretty good, hope they'll stay that way. I haven't noticed them nipping at each other any today so that's good, but one of them every now and again keeps flaring at the others and like whipping them with her tail. i've been watching them because i don't want a fight to break out and me not be able to stop it. lol.
