Ok i just bought a breeding trio of brittlenose plecs, and at the moment the two females are intervined in battle underneath the bog wood its like a plec death match. Now i did have them in a small tank just over night whilst i sorted my 54 litre out, and the strange thing was in the crowded 21 litre they get on fine but it seems in this tank they just want to battle it out. The male is quite happily chilling on the side of the filter.

My question is are they just having a terrotorial battle to decide who gets where in the tank or are they really pissed at a each other lol.

Here is there new pad

Fighting is over now seems they are settleing, didnt realise they are so placid i was told by the person who sold me them they are but one was just sitting on top of the filter and allowed me to stroke the top of her head quite happily just sat there and let me do it

What kind of filtration have you got in the 54 litre, I would have thought it would need to be pretty powerful with some major water changes to get rid of the nitrates, I would also think that space in a tank like that is going to be a problem.

I'm not trying to be negative here but just pointing out potential problems.

ive got a fluval foam filter whats around 150lh it puts quite a strong current in the tank so i imagine its more than good enough and im a bit of a cleaner holic when it comes to the tanks i normally vacumme gravel twice a week so this wont be a problem. And as for tank size its more than big enough for them to have there own space you rarely see them in there and the tank looks empty even with 3 of them hanging around in view.

They are getting on much better now ive added more hiding places for them i have a ornemant whats a broken pipe and they are like caves so they hang around in there most of the time of under the bog wood.

Thanks for the reply though
