Hi guys.

Daft question but...how do you tell the sex of a blue ram? I've read that it is something to do with their top fins (sorry don't know the name of the fin. Still learning!! )

I have two blues, apparently one male and one female (or at least that's what I asked for at the LFS!) but i can't really see any difference except one is smaller than the other and the small one gets a lovely red belly quite often. Also the big one's markings/colours are maybe more vibrant but i am colour blind so couldn't guarantee it!!

Is the smaller one the female? If so is she ok getting a red belly?

Females have a red belly, its just their colourings. They are generally smaller than males too.

(Female at the front) sorry about the really bad joke at the top of the post, i thought it looked like she was counting in the corner (you know its a bad joke if you need to explain it)

the pink stomach is true but i have breeding rams now, and the way i see the male fromfemale is that the male has an extended dorsal fin
