my female betta is blowing bubble nests, is this normal for females? i know for sure shes a she because she has an egg spot and doesn't have long fins or those frilly things the males have behind their gills. anyone else have females that do this?

yes i have 2 females that do that regularly, it's perfectly normal.

both of them will regularly deposit eggs and put them in the nest, and then guard them for several days (they wont' even eat during this time period), and then as soon as they reailze the eggs arent' fertilized they'll eat them, and then start the porcess all over again :D

most of my females have that kind of habit... it's normal...
i bought a HM female last month and when i put her inside breeding tank with a male... she flared at the male as if she wants to have a fight with the male... and she also blow bubbles...
i've asked the seller and he said that it's normal and sometimes the female will help the male to build their nest...
