how many female bettas can get along in a six gallon tank? and can u get female bettas at petsmart? if not, petsco, i've never seen any at walmart, but my freind bought this awsome one there.

ok most petsmart petco and walmarts dont carry female because they are not as attractive as males. petsmart would be your best choice but idk for sure mine rarely carries them as for a six gallon tank im not sure it really depends on the moods of the fishbut i would say 4-5 but dont take my word for it wait for wuv, betta momma or veeviabetta they will know for sure

I'd say 3 in a 6 gallon, give them all 2 gallons of swimming room. They can be real pigs, those girls!

IMO, you need at least 4 females to even out the aggression. I do not think that 4 would fit in a 6G, but someone may be able to say different. If you can't have 4 and you don't want to divide the tank, I would go with one. The females can be just as aggressive as the males. I bought 10 for my 20G and they still try to claim territory from eachother. They would need lots of plants or caves to hide in as well. I would also wait for someone else's opinon.

I've never kept females together. In such a small tank, I really wouldnt put many in there. maybe you could divide it if they started to get b*tchy

Edit spelling

Hi, I housed 4 in my 8 gallon however they are still recovering from nipping each other after I learnt the error of my ways. I think the 6 gallon is too small for more than one, and I don't think they are happy alone the girls (MY girls aren't happy alone anyways.) They now reside with two more females in a 40 gallon, along with some cute dwarf chiclids, and a pair of pearl gourami. They are definately happier in their new home. HIH :D

EDIT: by the way, she could be housed with a small community in there, some cory's, one of the hardier dwarf gourami (honey) there may be some territory issues but then there may not be, female guppys, dwarf platties etc

I think it'll be much better getting a 10 gallon tank and getting 4-6 females. 3 females in a 6 gallon tank can fit but two of them are going to gang up on one and she isnt going to be very happy. With 4-6 and a lot of hiding places the aggression spreads out.
