female bettas

Depends on which fish you keep them with, no fish with flowing fins, best to keep them on there own.

My friend had one male and 3 females in her community tank but they all died. The females we were told are very hard to keep. Betta's are no good with fin nippers. They seemed happy in her tank but they didn't survive more than a few weeks, so she's looking to get some more and put them separately in a 2.5 gal tank. Probably a male and two females this time.

It's never a good idea to keep males and females together. They WILL kill each other.

If you are doing females in a community, you should either do 1 or 4+. 2 or 3 isn't a good idea because the weakest will usually get picked on.

I have a female community and they are constantly sorting out their pecking order. Split fins are common in there, but they never come to serious cat fights. The girls are only sharing their tank with cories and khulies as they nipped the fins of the guppies that I tried in there. I wasn't quite sure if you meant a female only community tank or a mixed community tank but I personally prefer to keep these girls to themselves for the sake of my other fish

hi there,do female bettas do well in a community tank without the males??
I have 1 female in a semi agressive style tank and she is doing fantastic.

i used to keep five females together. two died quickly as they came from a store which kept five in a half gallon beanie box...

then one other betta died, i think it was from the same disease as the two that came from the crappy store.

then with two left, one was getting picked on constantly... she was showing stress bars all the time.
i gave her to snowyangel for her guppy/tetra tank and she's still showing stress bars... i think she's just stressed for no reason really.

if youre going to keep some, make sure they don't show stress bars at the store
