Hi,
during the time with the forum shut down, I got this stunning female. She is SD with a cream body and deep red fins and a small red patch on her head  (named her Patches). I just had to get her  . I took her home and put her in my 10 gallon with my two pregnant guppies. Patches is the queen of the tank :p.
In a separate tank I have another female betta. She's been kept solitary (~8 months) sence I got her. I really want to put her with Patches. So here are my questions:

1. If my bettas cant get along with two guppies I will move them :good: . Female bettas + Guppies?
2. How many female bettas can fit happily into a ten gallon? Not counting the guppies.
3. when should I add the solitary female? Now or when I get the rest?

I really got hooked on bettas now so I want to have a feamle community.

~ THANKS~

Would love to see pics f her.

1. Its usually a bad idea keeping bettas with guppys as your girl/s could attacke them, plus they will eat the fry. Its also not advised to keep just 2 female betta together as they will bulley each other to the point of one getting so stressed it dies.

2. i would say 8 females in a 10 would be a good number as it evens out the agression and looks great. Just be sure to have some good hiding places.

3. If you can add them all at once, if this is not possible, do a large water change and move a few bits around just before you add any new females.

I hope that helps and makes sense

Thanks! Ok, I have a 3 gallon tank open, I could put the guppies in there.

i keep four in a 15 gallon...but i think the most important thing is to put them both them in the tank the same time so neither can "claim" the tank as its own first. its never recommended to only keep to because the agression will be between only two of them. 3 at the least i would sayalthough the more the better.

3 is also a very bad number as 2 of the usually gang up on 1 so yu are then back t 2 fish then finally to 1. 4 is really the minimum

I've kept female guppies with female bettas before with absolutely no problems. I think the bettas didn't bother them because they were larger than male guppies and didn't have the big fins to nip. The bettas will certainly eat the fry but other than that they would probably be perfectly fine together.

I agree with 6-8 female bettas in a 10 gallon, with lots of plants (real or fake) and other decorations to hide in.

I agree, there has been no conflict between the guppies and FM betta.
