Hi

Anyone from the South East? If so does your local fish shop sell female Bettas?. All 4 of my local fish shops have none and wont be gettin any for at least 3 weeks :/

hiya, how far down south are you ? im in brighton, and manage to find female bettas all around me.

the main local fish shops i use for female bettas are,

Paraquatics, in Portland Road, Hove, tel, (01273) 733 996 (this is a nice place, but be careful, they get confused about short finned males and females, but they currently have a fair few! went there 2day!)

Handcross aquatics, their found just off of the (01444) 401 004 (their the best place i go to, they know alot about them, and always have at least a dozen at a time! and their great colours!!)

All in all there are a fair few in my area that have them, but in all cases, they only ever have the normal bettas, nothing especially fancy like crown tails or anything, but they all have gorgeous colours!

i hope u manage to find a suitable female! their great lil entertainers!

Hi

Thanks for your reply. Im in Maidstone, Kent. My mate did find me one betta in Ashford but said her fins had all been nibbled at. I cannot belive how difficult it is to find female bettas around her. I considered buying online but there seems to be no UK sites just american :/

Hiya, right, since your not that far away, and are just in maidstone, had you thought about comming down this neck of the woods and looking ? all you need really to make sure she is ok with the ride home, is a small animal travel case (hamster size will do) this is what i use to move my fish about in, as i hate bags.

it has air holes all around the top edges, and is clear plastic, so you can keep checking on her on the way home.

the only other thing you have to worry about is heat, and at the moment the heat here is on the increase, so you may get away with just the plastic travel case, water, and a few drops of either stress coat, or tap safe. but in the likely event of the weather changing, the same plasttic travel case, and drops of stress coat or tap safe, and then a towel wrapped around the travel case - to insult it.

hope this helps ? if you would like to chat about it on msn feel free to just add me, [email protected] im usually about, just have to say the word and i will do me best to help you out!

take care
xxx
