One of the lps has a whole slew of 'large female bettas' (thats how they are labelled). There was about 20 in a planted tank. I watched them for a looooong time. There was very little aggression. Occasionally two would approach each other, flare for a while, then swim off without doing anything else. Most were very big, with larger bodies than my males at home. A few were red, or shades thereof, but most were very dark, like a deep navy blue. You could see a touch of other colours on them, but not much. The most interesting thing was that many of them were crown-tails. I've never seen anything but a veil tail in any store here, but here were a mess of female crown-tails!
It is very tempting to buy a 20 gallon, plant it and put 5-6 females in it, but I just can't afford it right now. Some time in the future however.....
