Female Betta.

The female i got yesterday, has got a very very small amount of cotton wool on her right fin. Have checked the other fish and they do not seem to have it. Pin Head Size

Otherwise she is very active and is spending most of her time swimming next to the African Butterfly and ignoring the advances of my male. He Is trying sooo hard and she just arc's her body and shoots to the other side of the tank.


What should I use and should i Dose the whole tank or just her.
Don't want to lose her, as she is very cool little thing.

Sounds like fungus - do you have a hospital tank? If so then put her there and dose her with anti fungal treatment. If not, you most probably have to dose the whole tank.

sorry don't have a hospital tank. Packed it away to sell on ebay but go no bids.

will treat the whole tank as i don't want to treat her then spread to the rest of the tank later.

I've used Interpet medications and find them really good. Use a general anti fungal one for the whole tank.

You can try Fungus Eliminator by Jungle. Do a full water change first if you can and then add the medication. Change water every third day and then add a new dose. I'm just learning about aquarium salt in with bettas and this might not be a bad idea either. 1 teaspon to 2 1/2 gallons. Good Luck...Sounds like you caught it early.

will get the stuff and quarantine the female in a Large vase and then treat tank aswell.

Can't do a full water change as still quite ill ATM, so will have to get Mum to do as much as she can.

Took me an hour just to vac the gravel. Very Slow Progress.

Will try my best. Will GO to Pets at home as closest to me and will get interpret.

P.S sorry, but what is the best Air Pump for under £20.00 as mine is on its last legs and is VERY Loud.

My Female has perked up, but sadly the Weather Loach Died. Really Liked the Loach. Have done a water change and done a gravel vac. moved the ornaments around and cleaned all plants.

OUt of Interest, My Female Is a An Imbellis and she is Lavender Color with red stripes on her Gills.

She does Have 2 Very Dark Black Stripes going Horizontally along her BODY.

Does this mean anything as spawning bettas should have vertical stripes.

She is still arcing her body when the male approaches her and spends alot of time exploring the tank and the other fish. She is very very active and funny to watch.

I did not realise that females came in such Colors, Can I keep More than 1 Female Int he Tank with Its Present Occupants as they are very nice to watch.
