Hi,

I'm aware that keeping a male betta with angelfish is a no go. would a female be ok or would the angels still nip. I have a 60l tank with angels, mollies, swordtail and corys

angels will grow too big for a 60l i'm afraid. i wouldn't risk any betta with angels, both can get nasty

I've got a 21l tank too currently empty but wanting to add smaller fish. would this tank be too small for a betta?

Hey there,

I have had 3 angels in along with 1 male betta and 3 females. Never have I heard before about not keeping them together. I'm not saying I'm right and everyone is wrong by the way, I've just never heard of it. They've all been in the tank for over a year and no fin nipping at all.

Think it has a lot to do with how old/big the fish were when they were introduced to each other. That's just my opinion though.

the 21l would be fine for a betta

what would you suggest keeping with the betta in a 21l? or wouldit be better alone?

Possibly a snail as well :).

21litres will be perfect for just a betta though. At the minute you might see him in the tank and think "it's big" but believe me he'll fill it out.

I first put mine in a 17 litre tank and I thought he was sooo tiny; the brute obviously grew and even his energetic self just filled the tank. He is now in a 35 litre tank and I do think it's a little bit big for one fish but it's perfect since he uses all the space.

I had my male betta live with many many kinds of fish over the 3 years I have had him. Poor guy had it rough.

I kept him with a breeding pair for angels. He lived just fine in fear. I never saw him he always hid in a plant out of sight out of mind.

My betta has a 10 gal tank to him self well there are some neons in it that he like to boss around. Since I moved him to his own place he is 100x happier.

I kept this guy with tetras, angel, gourami, blue acara, rams, keyholes, plecos, corys ,and yes discus. He has lived in a 5 gal, 36 gal, and 80gal. The 10 gal is the best tank for him. Well a 20gal long would be great. That said I can say yes bettas can live with many kinds of fish but they will not be happy. They are best kept in a tank made for them. If you want to fully enjoy bettas keep them alone or with fish like Cory cats or neons.
