So I'm having some issues with a female Betta of mine. For about a week now she has been swimming at breakneck speeds, skimming the surface of the water. Some of her colour is fading and the rapid swimming is happening more and more often.
The other day she jumped out of the tank, I have a glass lid on it but there is a gap where I have a peace lily growing out of the top. Luckily I was in the room when it happened and she only flopped onto the lid (so didnt fall) and I was able to get her back in straight away. For clarification, I do not think this was the cause of her sudden decline as the rapid swimming was happening before this.
Just now she had another bout of rapid swimming and sort of lost energy and fell to the bottom sideways and looked dead. I was going to pull her from the tank but she started swimming again and is moving around fine (mainly floating at the top though).
What could be causing this? I have tested my water and ammonia and nitrite are 0, nitrate is about 20ish (I have nitrates of 30 in my tap water but the peace lily does an excellent job of removing them)
thanks for your helps
