I have a 2 female bettas, They were both in my 15G tank with platies, dwarf chain loaches etc. She was always striped, ever since the day I bought her. Then I noticed the cambodian female started being more aggressive towards her. She looks like she's got eggs and her egg tube is out.

I moved her into a 1G Jar and she has gone to a lovely blue/purble colour and although she is a bit thinner she still has her egg tube out.

Any one know why? Is she egg bound?

Ben

it doesnt really mean anyhting that her ovipostor is out. it just means shes a female... :p
shes most likely not eggbound...its pretty rare.

i agree, all my females have thier oviposter out almost 98% of the time, nothing to worry about :)

but it does sound like she was being buillied by the other female in the other tank :( if you wanted to keep her in there with the other female i would suggest getting at least 3 or 4 of them to spread out aggression. but that might already overstock your tank so maybe it'll be best to leave them serpeate :)

Yeh adding any more to the 15G would deffinatly over stock it.

I will keep them seperate I think for the moment. I was told that they dont always have their ovipostor out by someone. I guess they were wrong!

Anyway she seems happy in the 1g but I would ideally like to try and re-introduce her to the 15G...although I would have to provide alot more surface plant cover....

yeah i recently had to take out 2 of my females becuase they were getting harassed too much by the other ones and were always showing thier stress lines. So i put them in thier own 1.5g next to each other and they seem to be happy like that :) ate lots more too now that they dont' have to fight with others to get to the food :p
