One of my female bettas has been attacked by my tetras over night and she has some nasty looking marks on her head, shes alive but barely!

I isolated her and she is currently in a betta container, I have no idea what to do for her? Shes moving but very slowly, she looks like she was hurt bad =\ There is a nasty bubble on her head =\

What can I do?

I am really sorry to hear about your poor betta. :( Maybe you should put her into some medicine to try to help her heal. I have heard people talk alot about melafix on this board they seem to use it for all kinds of healing purposes. I haven't personally used it but I have read good things about it. There is also bettamax which I have had some good luck with, and the vitamins in it might give her a boost. Good Luck with your fish.

please do NOT use melafix..you should never use melafix on bettas, it can kill them, bettafix is also not good for them as its a diluted version of melafix. I suggest getting some BettaMax, it should do the trick, that and aquarium salt and frequent water changes and she should be fine.

I am sorry. I now remember that I was given that infomation on another forum that I decided to leave because of all of the wrong information. Bettamax does work well though and should really help your female heal.

My poor female betta passed away a few minutes ago. I suppose shes gone to a better place now. I'm really saddened by this loss, I have been looking for a female betta for quite some time =\

So sorry Vam :-( It's of no use to you now but bettas and tetras really don't mix well. Tetras are like mini piranhas and they do "gang bang" when they attack :/ your female never had a chance.

Sorry

Yeah those wounds sounded pretty bad.

Actually I really like melafix, I've found other medicines to be much to weak when attack agresive illnesses. But when it comes to medicines it's definitley a personal choice of whatever you belive works for you.

Nes.

Just out of curiousity what kind of tetras was it?

Stan took the words right out of my mouth. Some tetras can be problematic, but there aren't many that should be that brutal.

So sorry about losing her, though. :(
