Ive just sexed my 2 platy's (from info on this site) and realised i have 1 male and 1 female, i have also noticed over the last couple of days that the female keeps headbutting the male out of the way, and chasing him away....she doesnt seem to harm him, but i think shes the boss, lol, what does this mean???

Claire x

My female is Orange with black fins and tail
My Male is white with Orange and Black patches.

Perhaps she's got a headache....

Just look out for any sign that either of them is getting stressed by the situation (not eating, sticking to one corner of the tank, clamped fins).

She may already be pregnant and find his attentions superfluous. Let us know if the situation escalates.

platys should be kept as 1 male with 2 or more females but as your tank is over stocked you should probably swap your male for a female.

I don't know how big your tank is or if it's overstocked, but if you are worried about stocking levels you'd want to trade the female in for a male, the only way your not going to get any fry is if you don't have any females period, males kinda really don't have much to do with it in the case of most livebearers, since most female are pregnant when you get them.
