Some of you might know I fostered a litter of 4 + mum for over three months. Well, they went back to the shelter after getting spayed to hopefully find a good home on the 7th of August. First the orange male got adopted, then the grumpy black boy, then the adorable black boy (we helped that one!) but a month later, the female tortie is still there.

I can't imagine a month in a cage. Nobody even looks at her. Usually kittens get adopted faster than this. They don't even put her on petfinder, a surefire way to get her adopted. I don't get it. Are tortie cats unappealing? Is this normal or do I just have a case of mommy-blues?

personally i dont see why no one would want to look at her - she is adorable.
i really dont see why they wouldnt put her on petfinder though, maybe you could have a word with someone at the shelter to see what they can do

xXx

i know it is probably no consolation, but i am in the same boat......three years ago, when i was living out in the sticks, an obviously feral (but just as obviously previously owned and abandoned) pregnant cat (skinny, very young, flea and worm ridden) came to my door in labour (we had been feeding her on the back verandah for a week or two previously) and asked in no uncertain terms to come in and have her kittens inside with me.
she had three kittens, and i wanted to re-home all of them while they were young and cute (at 8 weeks of age), but my partner wouldn't allow it.
now, three years later, my partner is my ex, and i need to find homes for my four babies (speyed, wormed, flea free and healthy), as i need to be constantly bringing strange dogs home for work (guide dogs).
it is a very difficult situation for me, and i can understand your position, as i have grown to love my four cats very much over the years, and now they are not even being re-homed as cute kittens, they are adults who know me and would undoubtedly stay with me given the option......
can only hope that time will bring the perfect owner, and rushing them out the door to any old person is not the right way to go......
i think your torti female has the perfect cat loving parent out there and they will meet very soon.
all the best, you have my total sympathy and understanding,
merry.
