I read on another website about king british catfish pellets contain copper and after reading the ingredients it looks like they do, I have been feeding these crushed up to my shrimp with it seems no ill effect for over 6 months now, not bad when you consider that shrimps are supposed to be copper intolerant.

lots of fish food contains copper (shrimp actually need copper for their blood in the same way you and I need iron) but in different compounds so some is safe for them some isn't. Have a look at shrimp food and you'll find they contain copper too e.g. Fluval Granules. Small ammounts of copper poisoning is cumulative too so over time they'll suffer the effects if it is dangerous.

I'm not saying the food isn't safe but having them survive on it for 6 months isn't proof.

Its all about quantity and not just presence, low back ground levels of copper (or very small blips) won't harm your shrimp.

I am not sure if they contain any copper, but I feed mine JBL Nova Prawn and they seem to like it :good:
