Once works for me :/

....I think livebearers could be fed all day long and still go for your plants lol ;)

:)

Just once a day is best for adult fish,if you have any fry they will need feeding 3 times a day but this is best done in a seperate tank so the parents dont steal the food.
If you have live bearers then you will have to choose plants they they will not like to eat, java fern and anubias are good examples.

Yes I agree with the above. Feed tem as much as they will eat in about 3 minutes. Anymore and the food sinks to the bottom and may start to decay causing you problems. Fish by nature are always on the hunt and will always seem hungry. Underfeeding is better than overfeeding.

At the end of the day it all depends on what fish you are keeping and what you are hoping to do with them,i only feed some of my predatory fish once or twice a week and in dolpins case he breeds his fish so feeds them twice a day to keep them in breeding condition.
For general community tanks once a day is fine, also it is best to starve your fish for one day a week after a water change to allow for any lost bacteria to replenish its self.

i feed mine when i wake up and before I go to bed. i think they could eat all day. i thought the rule was 5 minutes, but i give my fish enough food for each meal that it takes them 1 minute. i'm not going to start giving them more to last 3 minutes though, that would be a lot of food.

I too am struggling with just how much food to give them. I have been feeding twice a day, once in the morning and once when I get home from work. I put about 2 or 3 pinchs of flakes in. The gouramis, molly and danios go crazy like they haven't ate in weeks and consume everything on the surface in less than a minute. However, it looks like its snowing flakes when they are done. Lots of little pieces falling down. The tetras and ram pick at this, and of course the danios are zipping around like they are speed. I'm sure the cories pick some of the scraps. I did my first routine cleaning last night and it wasn't too bad. I'm thinking I should add a couple more cories to help with cleanup. Has anyone used one of those feeding rings, and does it help. Comments? Suggestions?
