hi peeps
I decided to buy "sinking" fish food as I was feeding the floating stuff, but the tank looked like a swirling vortex of fish food(yes i am feeding the right amount) I had tried turning off the the filter but the food just sat on the top and the fish that tended to feed at the bottom didn't really feed till the filter was put back on and then there was the swirling vortex again..
now the questin is... ive noticed that my large sailfin molly doesn't seem to feed for the bottom she tends to stay at the top awaiting the floating food, is this normal?? :/ there is a large bubble thingy in the tank so its nothing to do with oxygen... my dalmations and the small silver mollies do feed for the bottom but they do tend to prefere sticking there noses out of the water and eating the floating stuff.

Hi, :)

the shape of their mouths will give you an idea of where they feed from....

upward pointing mouths, platys, mollys etc prefer to feed from the top

middle mouths rams, tetras, danios etc feed middle tank

downward pointing mouths, catfish, cories, CAE's etc feed from the bottom.

why not feed them some of each food, half floating, half sinking :dunno:

hth

tbr :D

thanks :D

yes I did notice the way there mouths pointed up the way and yes i'll feed them both... :D

pretty obvious really :p

thanks anyway
