hiya, you have probably heard this loadsa times but i have just bought 2 ottos (heh ikle baby ones) and a froggie! (paulVbiker will know coz i got them out the shop he works in :D, heh i met up with him today breifly)

anywayz, i bought some algie wafers for the ottos who atm seem intrested at sucking everything in my tank but i indt get anything for the frog....basically....what do you feed them?

Bloodworms - frozen or fresh. Make sure that you drop the food in front of their noses otherwise they will miss out at feeding time. I use a turkey baster to feed mine.

whats a turkey baster?

and the ottos dont seem intrested in the algy wafers, will they find it if there hugry? coz my guppies keep goinmg over and nipping it which is making me annoyed because i already feed them flakes!

how many times do i feed ottos with the wafers?

whats a turkey baster

It's like a giant eye dropper (the thing that you put eye drops in your eye with) - it's about 14" long and it's proper use is basting meat or chicken/turkey in the oven, but they make great feeders for frogs, and bottom feeders in general.

The ottos will find the wafers if they get hungry. Quite possible that there's enough algae in the tank to keep them busy for a while, but they will need the wafers once the algae runs out. Most fish are pigs in disguise - they will eat anything all the time - that goes for your guppies. If the ottos aren't touching the wafers, then don't put them in for another couple of days until the algae is gone.

dont frogs eat anything else? i would think frozen bloodworms might be a pretty strict diet

They don't eat flakes or pellets or general fish food. Try them with any "meaty" frozen food - bloodworm, tubifex, white glass worm, mine also nibble on brine shrimp, but bloodworm is definitely their favourite.

todays feeding time was quite funny. since i have not got a turkey baster i used a straw to try and suck up some bloodworms (defrozen in tank water in a seperate containter) this didnt work so i ended up trying to tip them directly on him, lol instead he just bounced around and hid under the filter. im not sure if he got one or not but this is casuing to be problamatic

You'll want to hit the kitchen gadgets dept of your store. The frog baster is pretty cheap and well worth the small cost. Most frogs will soon learn that the baster is a source of froggish delight and will perk up as soon as you approach the tank.Mine is so comical. He stretches up his front legs like a yoga posture. Then he keeps going up until sometimes he tips backwards. When the baster comes down,he comes right up and grabs the worms :p

It takes a bit of patience to give him his fill...but what fun
