Feeding time

woah, that's really cool! what is that giant fish just chilling in the right side?

That is a red tailed giant gourami, osphrenemus laticlavius. The original theme of this tank was an Asian community tank.

The GG, balas, clown loach, filaments, beardless barbs, Borneo red finned sharks, Dennison's, plus a few others.

Then I stripped down a 120g tank which had a choc cichlid and red shoulder sev in. Those two SA fish ended up in the Asian com tank!

nice, the back portion sort of reminds me of a chiclid, but i realize now that it is a gourami!
what is a "filament"?

Filament barbs, quite a popular species, though not really for small tanks. They don't grow that big, 7" tops, but they are very very active, they need a fair bit of space.

they are very pretty fish! larger than most of those small barbs at shops, though

Yes, filaments are one of the larger small barbs. After filaments you start getting into the realm of tinfoil barbs, lemonfin barbs, cigar barbs etc etc, they're a big family of fish.

Nice tank and vid. I’ve always liked janthochir a lot (Borneo Red fin) I like a good barb swarm too. Two versions of my ideal tank would have half a dozen GGs in. One with tinfoils and one with assorted dollars. Tank would have to be even bigger of course.

Yes, my Borneo red finned silver sharks (cyclocheilichthys janthochir) are amongst my fave fish at the moment, along with my beardless barbs (cyclocheilichthys apogon) and my red tailed barbs (discherodontus ashmeadi). My own pics below of the three...
