hi i have so far 4 corys (adding 2 each week) so i got some bottom feeder sinking food tablets, the tub says feed as much as they can eat in two mins
so i added one to my tank after a few mins my corys found it, it looked like it took a good few mins before any of the food started to break off
so for the first time i left it and 1hrs later they was still going at it

im geussing one tablet can feed many should i leave it in or remove it after a few mins?

cheers

Depends on how cycled your tank is. It is usually best to feed a maximum of one pellet per Cory, but they should be fine with one pellet between a few, especially if the pellets break up into small pieces and you have sand (so the food just sits on top).

the tank there in is cycled and have jbl substrate init after they have had a good 20 mins go at it it starts to break up in to realy small bits, they will when its cycled be put in my rio 180 and thats dose have sand

hmmm ive just fed my coys 1 sinking tablet its taken them 45mins to eat it and now the have a bigger beer belly than me
have they eaten to much im still not sure how much to feed them?????????????

Hi Spurry :)

I'm going to move your thread over to the Corydoras section. You might get some more interesting
responses. It would also be helpful if you mentioned what brand of food you are using. :D

cheers im feeding nutrafin max bottom feeders sinking food tablets

Mine are mostly used as a night time treat, 1 of those tablets is quite a lot of food and yes, it takes a while for them to get soft and break down so they can nibble at it. being cold blooded, fish really dont need a huge amount of food and tbh, you will always watch your corys thinking "wow they are hungry" they do tend to get busy with their food. :) Mix up thier diet as best you can and they will be fine. A couple of those tablets per day is plenty for 4 of them, when they are older a pinch of tetra prima will help too. :)

I find it hard to judge how much food is enough with hard food that takes time to break down. Two minutes is not a long time if the food has not broke down into small enough pieces for them to eat by then. Definitly not for everyone but I have a 40 gallon with 11 Sterbai, two big filters, plants and snails. I feed them heavy three times a day. They are always hungry and getting HUGE. They are the biggest Sterbai I have ever seen. I got them 7 months ago as big juveniles and now weight wise they are at least 3 times as big as they they were then. On the other hand I have a tank with some Bronze and they seem happy with 2 or 3 small pinches of food every day. The way I determine how much to feed is to see how much sinking flake they will eat in 10 - 15 minutes.

+1

its been cycled for 6 weeks and i still test the water every few days

ammonia = 0
nitrite = 0
nitrate = 10 t0 20

i feed as much as they can eat once aday do 25% water every week
i have 13 fish in 94lts water just added 2 this week

now my corys are in my rio 180 that has loads of rocks innit when i drop a tablet in for them they nudge it around in to a crack in the rocks
is it ok just to leave it there

will it just disperse in the water and setle on the sand for them or should i remove it from the rocks?

you dont really want food rotting if you can help it, i would probably rearrange it, as its likely to be a trap for dirt too.
