Feeding Shrimps

Hi Can someone tell me the best food for amano? shrimps. I have only silk plants so need to suppliment their diet. I was given some tablets by the lfs but the other fish eat them before the shrimps get to them, I also have some veggie tetra flakes, are these ok? and was told that cucumber was good for them. Quick question: best way to 'anchor' the cucumber to the bottom, i don't have any lead plant weights. Thanks

algae wafers are good as are shrimp pellets. tie the cucumber onto an aquarium friendly rock, with cotton and sink it.

Thanks for that Moray, i'll get some next time i go to my lfs. One last question, how long is it safe to leave cucumber in for? Don't want to leave it too long and pollute my water. Thanks.

It's said not to specifically feed amano shrimp - or else they will start to eat less and less algae.
But I'm not sure how one could prevent that, because opportunistic as they are, mine often feed on flakes and other bits of food too.
