What do I feed my ottos of there isn't enough algae in the tank? They are always sucking to the glass and ornaments but I dont think there's algae in there..

Hi ravekiss :)

I've been feeding my otos zucchini to supplement their diet. They seem happy to have it and are especially fond of the skin.

To prepare it, wash it well and cut it into single serving pieces. Blanch it in a little boiling water for a minute or two, then cool it under cold running water. You don't want to cook it, just soften it a little.

If you dry the extra pieces on paper towels, you can store them in a zip lock baggie in the freezer until they are needed. Then just defrost and let them come to room temperature before putting in the tank.

You will need to weigh them down so they do not float. I thread a lead weight (the kind that comes off bunch plants), through them. :D

Thanks Inchworm...you're always so helpful. I'll try feeding Zuccini...what about cucumbers...I've noticed the corys like that and so do the mollies and all other fish.

I've tried feeding Zuccini but I dont think they're eating it. I've never seen them eating it but I see the other fish enjoying it...same with cucumber. I'm worried. I've always wanted ottos, dont want them to starve to death.
