Hi :kana:Along with my other fish,i have 10 neon tetras(had them a month, and seem to be doing fine)
Ive noticed that they dont feed from the top or the bottom of the tank so i believe they must be "middle feeders"?
I only feed once a day(a little at a time till they seem to be "full")but the little tetras dont seem to be very interested in the flakes unless i break them down really small and release the flakes under the surface of the water, where they then fall down to the middle of the tank, and they seem to be able to feed ok.
If i go away for any length of time,i cant expect the person looking after them to go through this process,so maybe they should be given a different type of food???

could someone please tell me how i can add my "fishy profile" (size of tank/type of fish)when i post or reply to messages please.
Many thanks

You can ground the flakes in a plastic ziplock bag. Then when you go away, just have the person use it from there.

My tetras don't have a problem with big or small flakes. They just take a piece out of the big flakes. But if you want, you can also put some in your hand and just crush them and then dump them in the tank.

Mine don't have that problem either. You could try feeding them frozen brine shrimp with a turkey baster. You can plunge it in near them and spray some out. Chances are they'll run, though, so if you dump some in at the top, some shrimp should get to them before they're devoured by the other fish.

Hi.Thanks for the replys.Frozen brine shrimp eh???........sounds quite appetising.....ill try some of that...thanks.
Although they seem healthy enough, they dont seem to be getting much food passing down through to them by the time the others have their share. But im sure they must be getting enough cuz they seem healthy and happy enough, but i will try your suggestions

Tetras don't eat much. I find mine just taking a bite or 2, then that's it. I guess they're trying to keep their girlish figure. :D Luckily I have pl*cos in the tank to clean up after them.

Mine do the same. The barbs feed off the surface and they catch the small bits that float down
