Hello! My baby Oscar is about 3" and growing fast! =) I have him in a 60 Gallon tank, save for one Albino Bristlenose Plecostomus and a red clawed crab. (The crab has a dry spot on the water. There is a plant he climbs up to get on it, where there is a little food area for him. So he's well taken care of, no worries. Recently, however, he's been feeding off the ghost shrimp that live under the driftwood!) My little Oscar absolutely LOVES insects. Loves them! I've been feeding him Super Worms along with some Baby Brine Shrimp (to help with digestion).

Anyhow, my question is, being only about 3", how often can I feed him Super Worms. I fed him two in two days, which I felt might be pushing it. And that was it for the day, unless he was practically begging for food, which I then gave him a couple of Brine Shrimp. But how often is safe for him to eat these? He has to eat it like a noodle, lol. he can't just eat it in one bite (not that big). Here's a picture of him eating one, he's almost done with it.

But is once a day OKAY? Or should I reserve it for once every other day? Additionally, how long with the Super Worms stay alive? Or how long until they turn into beetles? It's more or less a new food for him, so I was just wondering.

Thank you for your help.

Oscars are new world cichlids

Also your crab wont be around for very long as your oscar grows i would move the crab asap

I would get your oscar on a staple diet of floating pellets, a good brand such as Hikari...long term your O will be healthier due to it....feed worms etc as treats now and then.

Oscars arent as aggressive as they are opportunistic, altho some can play nice, your tankmates could be in danger long term.

Also, whats the dimensions of the tank?

Hikari cichlid gold by is what mine gets. I'm unsure what super worms are. I will feed the odd earth worm which comes out of my compost bin every now and then, not even once a month. The odd frozen prawn and scallop is also a favourite of his.
Don't be fooled into your oscar begging for food or he will be at it constantly. IMO they're super intelligent and will take advantage of the 'wiggling' anytime your near your tank.

Mine wags at me all the time but i don't feed him all the time, it wouldcost me a fortune!!!
