I understand the dangers of over feeding and the general rule of only feed what your fish can eat in a minut. I have 8 platies, 3 danios, 2 minnows, 5 dwarf gouramis, 3 otocinclus and uncounted platy fry. And I’ll feed them a generous pinch of flakes and within seconds its all gone. Now do I feed a second pinch or just stick to once a day. I have in the past fed a second pinch and again, within seconds it’s all gone. Don’t want to over feed and cause issues with the water parameters.

You can feed them more if you like. Offer a little bit nd let them eat it, then offer a bit more, like you have been doing. If you want to spice it up a bit, give them a few serves of flake and then offer some frozen brineshrimp, bloodworms or daphnia.

Your baby fish should be fed 3-5 times per day until they are adults, then reduce it to once a day.

Try to watch how much makes it down to the substrate. If a lot of it is making it down there before eating maybe try feeding less during the feeding session and do 2 feedings per day. For what it's worth I'm a habitual over feeder. I just don't do a good job gauging how much I'm putting in and I see a good bit go to the bottom. One of these days I'll learn portion control. I gravel vac weekly and have never had any issues with water parameters. You can also watch your fish and see if they look healthy from a rounded bellies and general weight perspective. If they are gaining weight and their color is good they are getting enough to eat. If their bellies are a little shrunken in you can feed more. Particularly for the oto when it's on the glass it's belly should look like it has a pearl in it.
