my plec loves lettuce, but my concern is with how often should i feed it?

They can eat lettuce but it doesn't have a lot in it nutritionally. You are better off using dark green leafy veges like spinach and silverbeet. Also pumpkin, zucchini, cucumber, apple, etc. Try to vary the diet so they get a different food each day. If used in conjunction with other foods, lettuce is fine once or twice a week.

how should prepare the apple, what part should i use?

you can use any part of the apple as long as it is free of chemicals. Unless you grow them yourself tho, it's best to peel the apple and throw the skin away. Then cut a piece or slice of apple and drop it in the tank.
