Hi guys. I recently added 2 blue dwarf gouramis to my 29 gallon. They are real eyecatchers, but I'm not sure when I should feed them. I currently am using Aqueon floating tropical fish flakes which are supposedly supposed to help maintain color, and bloodworms. I also use sinking wafers, but those are mainly for my catfish. I just got the gouramis three days ago. I'm having a couple problems:

1) I have 4 danios that hang around the top, and eat floating flakes very quickly. All of the flakes.
2) The gouramis are pretty timid. When I open the tank lid they tend to retreat towards the bottom and so don't get a chance to eat the flakes and bloodworms, whereas the danios don't seem to be at all bothered by me.

I usually feed in the morning, and sometimes a smaller amount later in the day. I've read that gouramis eat algae too, but I just want to make sure they are getting a decent diet. My tank is fully cycled and I keep it around 77 degrees farenheit.

they do eat algae and rotting plant leaves but it isnt enough

flakes are great as the like to surface feed and they enjoy blood worms to
it may take a few days to get them less shy but when you feed the flakes spread them out lots
if the danios still eat all the flakes remove them for a few days(if you have a second tank) giving the gouramis a chance to get used to it and when the danios come back they will be eatting like the danios as well .

try to move very slowly around the tank to start of with

hope this helps
