Just curious how many algea wafers everyone feeds their bristlenoses per week, and by this I mean how many wafers per BN (if you have more than one) per week.

Currently I am feeding my adult male 2, as he used to munch on the flakes that made it to the bottom. Now I am feeding my fish more pellets so there is very little flakes that make it to the aquarium floor and was wondering if I should maybe up it to 3 wafers per week?

Thanks for the help and I thought it would be a neat little poll as I am assuming most feed 2-3/BN/week.

Cheers

I have six (1 1/2 - 2 inch) and mine get one per day but i also give them some courgette every day as well, they love it and are growing well.

i put 2-3 alge wafers in every night 6 days a week and a bit of cucumber in once a week but i have 2 4 inch bristlenoses , 2 1/2 synos and 1 2 inch upside down cat

How much should i be feeding my 1.5'' BN pleco?

And how big are they untill they can be sexed?

Sam.

definitely add fresh washed veg - courgette, cucumber, mushrooms - there is loads of stuff that can go in.

I heard of BNs needing protein in their diet, contrary to popular opinion, and indeed the complete plecostomus foods have mussel amongst other things in them. I wondered does anything specifically feed mussels (whole, that will sink) to their BNs?

We have 2 adult male BNs (one long-finned), 1 adult female, all three around 5 inches and then 1 x 3in BN and 1 x 2in BN, so quite a few, but we also have a synodontis eupterus, 3 clown loaches and 3 zebra loaches so we do put in quite a bit of sinking food - about 2-3 algae wafers every 2-3 days, 6 hikari sinking bottom feeder pellets, 2 King British plecostomus food and we're just now experimenting with fine frozen foods (cockle, mussel as well as brine shrimp and daphnia as we have tetra and gups too) to see whether they get to the bottom for the plecs.

I also need to start feeding cucumber and such - I have done before but need to start this on a regular basis for our fish.

I have a clown pleco and a bn. I was feeding them one wafer half each everyday. I have since cut back on them now they get a wafer every other day. My other tank with a medusa and bn pleco gets less only 1 wafer every 2 or 3 days with some shrimp pellets fed T night.

i put 3 in for my breeding pair and fry (30+) every other night

you dont need to feed them that much about 1 algy wafer a week is ok ... they mostly eat the algy in your tank and you can sex them at about 2 inches...
