I went to the lfs today and bought the beurifullest anemone, hes white with greenish tips can figure out what the name is, i bought food for him its little ice blocks with fish inside i tried to feed him but by the time i get it right the ice has melted and my 2 clowns go on a feast with all the pieces of food...

how does one feed it ? just puch it into his mouth ?

uhh, i doubt feeding frozen stuff is good, thaw it out first. If its not eating, which can be a bad sign, dont feed it.

WOW dude you really need to get some reading done before you buy more anemones.

No offence but they take a lot of care and are very delicate and they are living creatures you dont really wanna be "punching" nothing!!

read this m8 and I suggest you take it back to the LFS till you really ready for it!

Anemones

No offence but from your post I gather you havent kept one before!

yup, i agree with pengy, you are probably going to have it die on you which means A. An anemone died for no reason, and theres a high chance that the clowns that were hosted are now dead. Really, you need to research. You just damaged the wild for no good reason.

one of the worst things you can do is attempt to force feed an anemone! You could tear its mouth and then look where you'll be.

First of all, READ READ READ READ, and when you think youve read enough, read some more. Once your anemone is in the tank LEAVE IT ALONE for several days. they are super delicate creatures and DO NOT like to be disturbed. I agree with pengy, take it back to the store before its too late. Do you have proper lighting? flow? are you sure it won't get sucked into power heads?

also, this post is in the nano reefs section. What size tank is this? nems shouldn't be placed in nano tanks.

As for feeding, if you do keep it, don't feed it cubed food. Small pieces of silverside or raw shrimp.

but please, anemones are beautiful, delicate creatures. Please consider taking it back to the store until you've read your materials.

How are you any 'better'... you buy livestock collected from the wild too I wouldn't doubt. That's kind of what the marine aquarium hobby is all about... damage in moderation. But of course it's much less damaging than many of the other "pointless" activities man participates in.

Really anemones can make hardy livestock (many authors rate them as the hardiest of all invertebrates), but most of them are damaged on collection, or overfed... if the anemone won't eat, don't force it (unless you know exactly how to), and if it dies, chaulk it up to humankind and don't buy any more until you are sure you have corrected the original problem.

i make sure i can take care of it and make sure other people have had a large success of taking care of it. I look for mainly aquacultured specimens, which is what my tank is full of besides brain coral and blood shrimp. I make sure i only buy healthy live stock and only support good stores who use good methods of collecting and ones who put life over money. oh and i do a bit more research after all that just to make sure.

I have a bubble tip anenome, and I used to feed it small parts of a silverside. I would rip off some of the meat from the frozen silverside, thaw it out, and set it on the anenome, While feeding my other fish brine shimp. It works quite well and usually they day after they eat it is normal for mine at least to shrink up a bit. Good Luck!

For buying aquacultured animals you are to be commended. Still, it is best to NOT belittle others because it doesn't help the situation one bit...
