So far my ADF's have had frozen bloodworm (as well as daphnia, brine shrimp, etc).
Most info says live bloodworm is better for them and that they will find their food easier because it's moving - OK I get that =)
So I bought them some live bloodworm, squirted a little onto the plate in their tank, tapped the glass as I do at feeding time...
Over half the bloodworm promptly burrowed into the sand  Now I know ADFs aren't the quickest hunters but these worms literally just vanished into the sand quick as you like.
Will they come back out?
Will they breed under there?
Will they die under there? If so is that going to pollute the tank and neccessitate me stripping it down?
I should be (hopefully) picking up 6 cory hastatus today will they find the bloodworms when they are rummaging around in the substrate?

its a problem that vexed me for some time. though i use frozen not live. ultimately i bought 5, and fed them on ordinary fish food, flake and pellets. two died, one being sucked up the filter intak, after it was knocked off, and the three left are thriving on that diet. untill i did the above, i struggled/failed to keep any for more than a month or so. 9 months down the line, these three are doing fine.

ps, i also use this diet with my CFBN and they are thriving too.

It's not a problem getting them to eat more a case of "uh oh I have bloodworms buried in my substrate".
So long as the worms aren't going to die under there and pollute everything then I can relax :good:

i have no idea if they will live or die. though die, is my initial thought, that's why i do not feed it, fresh or frozen. well not directly to the frogs. i still put blocks in for everyone, from time to time.

They wont die, but they likely will change into midges at a later date and fly out when you open the hood.

Has happened to me many a time before  .
