After giving the ADFs some settling in time I have now added my betta as planned. They get on ok with each other so far but of course the betta eats all the food (frozen blood worms). I am going to try and distract him with some Betta Gold tabs when I get some but am trying to feed the frogs using the food-in-a-jar technique. Now its all new to them, though it is in the same place as they have always been fed, but I know what terrible hunters they are. Would it help to feed them when the lights are off? Any other hints would be appreciated!

Cheers.

i don't think the betta will be distracted by the pellets... asking a betta to choose between bloodworms and pellets is like asking a kid to choose between candy and broccoli. You might get the odd one that will go for broccoli, but don't count on it.

maybe you can try using a trukey baster and put food directly in the gravel or sand, bettas don't usually go to the bottom of tanks searching for food. feed him the worms, then while he's eating, put some right on the bottom. the frogs should find them

I've already detirmined that the betta is more than happy to scavenge off the floor if he feels like it, and that the frogs may well be too slow on the uptake to work out the jar. Maybe if I put the food under the moss....trouble is the betta, to my surprise, is rather eel like in his ability to get into small gaps!

Hi Slyspy :)

The only way I can think of to resolve this problem is to feed live blackworms.

Both the frog and the betta will love them, but the good thing about them is that you do not have to worry about overfeeding. The worms that are not eaten by the betta when they are first fed will settle into the gravel and live there until the frog finds them and eats them.

This way you do not have to worry about overfeeding and having spoiled food in the tank.

Hmmm I see what you mean. Trouble is tho my nearest supplier of live foods is a way away and I lack the know how on how to breed my own worms. Plus the rest of the household might object to a worm breeding station! Still next time I'm passing I'll buy some and see how it goes. In the meantime I guess I'll have to feed the frogs directly, if I can find them!

You could use the Turkey baster technique. Suck the food into a turkey baster and shoot it out right next to the frogs.
