Feeder guppies are not at all the same as wild guppies.they are rejects for one reasomn or another. Once people throw the rejects in a tank or pond to start the process, they seldom go back to select for any feature. The guppies are basically left to their own devices. They often contain the genes of some purposely bred guppies that somehow did not suit their owner and so were left alone. They can contain a wide variety of shapes and colors because they are not being bred selectively. Wild guppies on the other hand are the tough little survivors that are collected from the wild. They often have very short fins compared to what we are used to and a riot of colors in their short fins. They are hardier than feeders but if you like feeders, why not keep them. When well cared for, they are at least as healthy and hardy as the stock they came from and usually more so because for generations they have not been pampered enough for the less hardy ones to survive and breed.
