Alright I may not be the best fishcare guy. I sum times will forget to feed my fish for a day or three. When this happens I loose a dither fish(tigerbarbs). I guess that is what they are really ment for seeing they are dither fish. But I was thinking of going a littler cheaper for dither/feeder fish. I have a spare 10 gal tank laying around and was i am thinking of setting it up for dither fish breeding ground with an auto feeder and such.

I know guppies would be an easy breed. What others might i try that don't multiply so damn fast but still at a fairly good rate? And looking nice in my big tank for the few days they will be in there would be good too.

I fear buying feeders from the fish stores just cause I wanna be safe. so I figure raise them myself and I will know.

I still plan to feed them the regular flake food and the occatioal blood worm but I figure it can't hurt for their diet to have a few fish in it if'n I forget to feed them.

and for the fish they are feeding:
2 Jack Dempsey (3"and 4")
1 Leporinus (3.5")
1 Pictus catfish
1 pleco

They provide through clean up for anyfish that is lost.

I've never done it myself, but I know of folks that have breeding pairs of convicts that they feed the fry to their other cichlids.
Its another alternative to a guppy.

I do that with cons. They breed avery 3 weeks or so and keep a steady supply going. That won't work in a 10g tho.

Guppies would be good if you can get the fry out before they're eaten.

If you wanted, you could use your 10g as a quarantine tank and buy feeders from your lfs and kep them in there for a few weeks to make sure they're safe.

For more live bait you could use nightcrawlers, crickets and silversides.

I would like to stay within my 10 gal tank limit, and if possible away from guppies. they might come flowing out of my ears if the jacks don't eat them fast.
