Angels! I don't care how common they are, i've always loved them and still do! All of the species, no just Scalare. But Discus are my close second.

I don't currently own any chiclids (but I will soon! ) but I really love the discus....(They run about $90 USD around here, is that a good price?) Thet're very endearing. I also like Oscars and the good ol' convicts too

90$ sounds like an awful lot for Average-sized discus. Are they average-sized? A chinese LFS about an hour away from me sells dollar-sized discus for 16$ each.

Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlids...but I am biased: they are the only cichlids I've kept. )

but prices for discus range from approx. £8 for 1.5" to £90 for 6"

Although those Severums look so irresitable.
