is a silver gar fish capable of eating 2 zebra danio's and a golden danio? in one day? The fish seem to have gone missing and the gar fish is looking really fat. The gar fish is around 3 n 1/2" in length. The danios were pretty small

Yes very likely so if you have any other stocking in there with it, take them out immediatly or remove the gar fish to another tank asap. I wouldnt feed him for atleast 2 to 3 days as well as if he continues to eat after gorging itself like it did on the danios, it may cause digestive problems

As has been discussed in your other thread, your gar is a carnivore. It will eat all of your other fish. If not large enough, at this moment in time, to eat them, it will kill them. You said you were choosing to keep the gar anyway. I'm not sure why you still have questions about what it will do to your other fish.

yeah i did, but i didnt think that it would actually kill any fish, just seemed so peaceful, sitting at the top of the tank. I removed the danios from my other tank, where i placed fish from my5ft. Didnt want to overstock the lttle tank. I thought they wouldve been fine, but obviously not

i have 2 tiger barbs, 2 keyhole cichlids, 2 mollies, 1 common plec left in there. These are 2 big for thegar fish to attack or kill surely

so that isnt a silver gar? Thats what it said at the lfs, I will try n get some better pics in the morning, it has eaten 2 danio's i think
