Can someone explain hoe to condition a betta for breeding or point me in the direction of a good website or book please? First timer here, you could say a virgin! LOL!
oooooh i do like virgins sorry that was rude of me! hehehe, i condition in a tank on her own away from the male for 4-5 days on live food only for 3 times a day at a temp of 30 degrees, then also do the same with the male and then add her seperated to the male tank with a large jam jar and continue until she is swimming in a nose down position, i release her whether the nest is built or not, as long as he is filrting with her he will build after she is let out if he aint done already......oh by the way i've left a message on your ebay and it needs answeringCan someone explain hoe to condition a betta for breeding or point me in the direction of a good website or book please? oh and there is also www.crackersbettas.com oh and thanks for replying to that message but ive left an URGENT one again for you on your ebayHey Pixies
Well instead of feeding just twice a day we feed 3-4 times a day on a high protein food. We use bloodworm and Attisons Betta Pro. They are kept in a tank with the temp slowly raised to 30c. It usually takes about 10 - 14 days but as with Tien she conditioned very quickly and is already releasing eggs.
This is a very good website with lots of information on breeding and raising fry.

Hope this helps

and ive also done the female on the out side of the tank in view range which was an awesome result and the one with the male in a jar looking in at the conditioning pair also worked well regarding the speed of condition of the pair in the tankoh and yes theres a credit note waiting for you for when ever you wish to use itThanks for all info, so far, more always welcome. you can also condition pairs up in seperate containers in the dark for 3 days without any food prior to the spawning, just make sure that they are very well fed before, apparently this produces a great spawn, i tried it once but i felt sorry for them and chickened out after 2 hours and they still spawned well, maybe the 2 hours did help, who knows
oh yeah, that would help, 5 days i was told, so i just choose the 2 fattest ones that i had at the time, this was when i was conditioning about 8 pairs in one go so i had a good choice as they were partly conditioned anyway. So when you put them in the dark for 3 days....how much food are you supposed to give before hand and for how long?
you add them together, im yet to try this and have the guts to do it, but i got it from a very reliable source and ive so gunna try it but i may need to have hypnotherapy firstDo you then still put the female in the chimney or just put them together straight away?
